St. James Plantation Web Site Terms of Use

With the addition of a  INTERNET site as part of the communications system the following guidelines with regard to notices and all published material for the WEB site have been adopted by the St. James Plantation POA board. The site in under the operational control of the POA's Communications Committee.

The WEB SITE  is to be used to disseminate the following information.

x    CAT-TALES & CLUB NEWS

x    Calendar of events

x    POA Board & Town Council news

x    Developer notices

x    St. James clubs and activities committee

x    St. James Chapel   

x    Directory of residents

x    Directory of property owner services (see guidelines)

x    Plantation Club notices ( Menu’s & special events)

x    Community activities of general interest  (Brunswick, Southport, BCC, govt. type agencies )

x    Outside clubs that maybe of general interest 

Editorial and Content Authority

The Communications Committee will have editorial and content authority and control over the POA web site subject to these guidelines and regulations. All information to be posted on the POA web site must be approved in advance by the Committee or its designee.

The communications committee reserves the right NOT to publish notices and advertisements that will reflect poorly on St. James.   

The following are not permitted

x    Fund raising events not sponsored by the St. James service club.

x    Real Estate advertisement of any kind, by either individual property owners or agencies

x    Partisan political notices for any party or candidate.

x    Petition notices

x    Objectionable Services / Products (determined by Communications Committee)

x     Illegal Services / Products

Unauthorized Use

User names and passwords to the property owners area of the POA web site are provided to St. James Plantation POA members as a benefit of membership. The user names and passwords are and at all times shall remain the sole and exclusive property of the POA, and the members agree to maintain their respective user names and passwords as private and confidential information. Any unauthorized use of the user names, passwords, or web site is strictly prohibited. 

Posted Information

As a condition to the posting of any information provided by a POA member (including, without limitation, classified advertisements and services advertisements), the POA member requesting such posting represents and warrants to the POA that such member will not post or request the posting of any information that infringes on the trademark. copyright or other intellectual property rights of any other person or entity. The member requesting such posting agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the POA from all costs and expenses (including attorneys' fees) incurred by the POA related to or arising from any breach of this representation and warranty.

Web Site Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how the POA will treat information posted on the POA web site. 

Please remember that no computer system should be considered safe from intrusion. Web site information and/or e-mail may pass through many computer systems, and should not be considered a secure means of communication unless encrypted. Even then, information is only as secure as the encryption method. Therefore, although we take precautions to protect our system and our servers, we cannot guarantee the security of any data on any server, including "secure servers."

Property Owner Information

The POA web site provides a directory of property owner information, including name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. This information is kept on limited access computers and is only available to web site visitors with proper user names and passwords. Any POA member may have their specific information removed from the online directory by sending a written request to the St. James Plantation POA or the Communications Committee. 

We will share web site and POA member information with governmental authorities when legally required to do so, and may cooperate with these authorities investigating claims of illegal activity such as (but not limited to) illegal transfer or use of copyrighted material, or postings or e-mail containing threats of violence. Except under the limited circumstances described above, we do not disclose web site information to third parties. No POA member shall provide access to the online directory of property owners to any unauthorized party for any reason whatsoever. 

Links and Cookies

The POA may provide links on the POA web site to other web sites of interest to POA members, which web sites are owned, operated and/or maintained by third parties. Persons or companies who own/operate such web sites or who advertise on the POA web site may use cookie technology. We do not control the use of cookies by our advertisers or by such linked web sites. Cookies are files written to a user's hard disk and read by server programs to inform a web site if the user has previously visited that site. 

Changes to Privacy Policy

The POA Board may make changes to this policy from time to time. We will post changes to our privacy policy here, so be sure to check back periodically. We may also decide to notify members by e-mail of significant changes.

Copyright and Service Mark Notice

This web site is maintained for the personal use of the property owners and residents of St. James Plantation.  Unauthorized copying or reproduction is prohibited.  Information on this web site may not be used for commercial purposes.  The St. James Plantation name and the cattail logo are service marks of the developer and used under license.  The names and logos of the Clubs and the Marina at St. James Plantation are service marks of the respective entities.  Unauthorized use of any such service mark is prohibited.
