Cancer Fund Raising Activities

A) Team St. James Members: Our volunteers (check here) are most appreciative of your generosity on behalf of the American Cancer Society/Relay For Life. Please contact the Team Member you know best via the POA Directory and they will help explain any of the Relay Fund-Raisers or Activities listed below. Please also visit our Team St. James' progress on www.events.cancer.org/rflbrunnc.

B) Fund-Raising Activities:
  • Purple Bows - For a $10 donation, you can purchase a Purple Bow which will be attached to your mail-box for you, enabling you to share your St. James' community support to find a cure for cancer.
  • Luminaries - For a $10 donation, you can remember your loved ones who may have lost their battle against cancer, or are still fighting back against this dreadful disease. Luminaries are small white bags, protecting a candle of hope & love which burn throughout the night at Relay in vigil for those you are honoring or remembering.
  • Fight-Back Flags -  For a $1 donation, you can purchase a single Star or Stripe or any other single flag component part in an effort to 'raise' a flag for cancer victims. If you wish, you may donate $68 for the entire flag* which you may then wish to personalize in honor or memory of your loved one. The purpose of the flags is to keep the fight against cancer flowing when the candles of hope extinguish.   * Flag will be returned to you the week after closing ceremonies.
  • Quilt Raffle: For a $1 donation or $5 for 6 tickets, you may win the beautiful Quilt stitched with love for raffle throughout Brunswick County, by St. James' resident Irene Chandler.
  • Photo Art Raffle: For a $1 donation or $5 for 6 tickets, you may win one of two beautiful pictures of area coastal scenes taken by resident John Keilman and professionally developed and framed by Murray Art & Frame, a $500 Relay Corporate Sponsor located in Leland.
  • Luncheon at Duffer's Pub & Grille - Oak Island: By enjoying lunch on Wednesday, April 16th overlooking beautiful Caswell Beach, a portion of your meal fare will be donated by Duffer's Pub & Grille to the American Cancer Society in support of Relay and in celebration of Duffer's conversion to 'Smoke-Free'...thanks to resident  Dana Bennet.
  • Racquet Relay: For a $5 minimum donation/player/hour, you can 'arm' yourself and your three favorite partners to help smash cancer at the Second Annual St. James Tennis Association (SJTA) Fund-Raiser on Wednesday, April 23. Racquet Relay starts at 8:00 AM and concludes at 8:00 PM at the Founders Courts. Call the Tennis Pro Shop for court reservations (910) 253-3008 #6 Tennis.
  • Corporate Sponsorships: For as little as a $100 donation, your business can join with over 300 other Brunswick County Companies in demonstrating your commitment to finding a cure. Over 3,000 people are expected at Relay - what a great way to get your firm's name out beyond our gates!
